Remastered edition of the hip cult classic Slinky, smart and funny. Salon.com Cheung is superb. EmpireOut-of-touch director Rene Vidal (Jean-Pierre Leaud) lures Hong Kong action star Maggie Cheung (as herself) to Paris to star as Irma Vep, the latex-clad jewel thief from the silent film serial Les Vampires. She soon finds that Rene is scorned by staffers and cast on the chaotic set. When Rene suffers a mental breakdown, and Cheung is fired by a new director, Maggie takes her character to the streets.
